Week 7: #17 Technology
Technology turned against us. Sure, we use it every day and we take it for granted. It makes our jobs easier and our customers happy. But what happens when there's an electrical outage. We go into a panic and we start to question our own ability to proceed without that tool that we use everyday. Its hard to function without it. I remember, when I was young, I used to help my dad work on my car. My dad was a shade tree machanic. He didn't need those high tech machines to tell him what was wrong with the car. He seemed to know what was wrong with it. Now everything is so technical and electrical that you need some kind of diploma to know what you are doing. Well, my dad is gone now. But if he were here, he would fix it without all that expensive technology.
Week 7:#16 Wiki
The SJCPL Subject Guides would work well with wikis in the library. The guides give out local and govenment information. It also has the Education guides which tell you about library educational programs and other resources. The Homework guides give you online databases on many subjects. The young customers would find these very useful.

Week 6: #15 Library 2.0
Technology! I think it's great for people to like to surf the net. I for one am not computer literate. So for the people who like to stay online and blog, post, etc:, good for you. I like the library like it is and the idea that one day 3D might replace our existence is kind of far fetched. We offer 'free' access to the internet and who has ever refused 'free'. Besides that people just like to stroll in here, sit and stay cool. Sometimes we might even catch someone snoozing. Others just want to find a place to study. I'm glad we can offer a little bit something for everyone and the kids just love it!

Week 6: #14 Technorati
Advance search gives you the differest results in blog posts, tags and Blog Directory. Popular Blogs gives you the options to search by post or blog, video and photos. I had fun watching the videos.

Week 6 #13 Tagging
I tried listening to the tutorial but it was not very good. It kept stopping and I kept clicking to make it start. I wasn't able to get much out of it. I did see some of the iHCPl accounts and I can see how Tagging can be of help to persons that have a lot of accounts and want to share their lists.

Week 5:#12 Library Elf
I can see how the Library Elf can be very useful to customers who have several accounts. I find it very interesting but since I already have a library account, it will not be very useful to me.

I've only read a few books in the past few months. I don't think I will ever use this-Library Thing, but I like learning something new.

Week 4: Finding Feeds
Finding feeds was not very difficult, now that I really know how to do it. I don't visit very many web sites so it won't be that useful for me. But on the other hand it is good to know.

Week 4:#8 RSS and a Newsreader
I finally created a Bloglines account and watched the tutorial. After reading about RSS feeds and watching the tutorial I thought it was easier (for me) to subscribe and add to RSS feeds by going to Quick Pick Subscriptions. From that box you can see newsfeeds you may be interested in, select, subscribe and add to your newsreader. I also added iHCPL participant feeds.
